December 2016 Activities

Trees are fat and trees are thin, with windows where the sun looks in. Trees are big and trees are small, but Christmas trees are best of all.

All of our activities will be running alongside children's individual interests.

Week commencing 28th November

After rounding off a busy November, the children are in a festive mood getting nursery ready for Christmas with lots of individual artwork to be displayed within the rooms and around nursery itself. Pre-school have created their gift lists and they will be making a trip to the post office to post their giant letter to Father exciting!

We have also welcomed Steve #stevetheelf to Nursery to help keep an extra eye on the children for Father Christmas. Steve seems to be getting up to all sorts, so keep an eye out for him when you are in nursery and also follow regular updates via our twitter account @OVNursery.

Week commencing 5th December

Our babies and toddlers will be crafting personalised keepsake gifts to take home.

Preparations are underway already for our planned Christmas party and the children will be creating their own hats and crackers, together with the toddlers writing letters to Father Christmas and visiting the local environment to post them. Toddlers will also be creating a post box in Nursery for the children to post their cards to friends.

As well as designing their own Christmas cards, our pre-schooler's will be focussing on 'putting on your own shoes' throughout the week.

Week commencing 12th December

Friday 16th December is the final day of the Autumn term for those children accessing flexible free entitlement funding. Spring term will commence on Monday 9th January and we look forward to seeing everyone after the festive season.

Throughout the week the babies will be exploring metal sensory baskets. Our sensory baskets are made up of everyday objects and research shows that babies particularly like metal objects such as spoons, strainers etc as they enjoy how cold the objects are as well as their reflective properties..........and they are also great for banging together to make noise!

Our Toddlers will be using winter themed sensory baskets and will explore ice and snow, discussing winter and cold, together with creating calendars for the New Year and baking Rudolf/Christmas biscuits.

Wednesday 14th December will see Miss Nina cooking up a traditional Christmas dinner for the children and staff with all the trimmings....yum! All dietary needs will be taken into consideration for the children.

This is a busy week in Pre-school with the final preparations for our annual Christmas performance.
