June 2016 Activities

Half way through the year already! June focuses on being active outdoors & enjoying the sun safely with our friends. Wishing all of our Dad's a Happy Father's Day & good luck to England in Euro 2016 ⚽


Week Commencing 6th June

National Best Friend's Day is on 8th June and the children will be celebrating by making friendship bracelets to give to someone special. The toddler children will also be learning about sharing with 'pick a partner' games as part of our best friends celebrations.

The UEFA Euro 2016 football tournament kicks off on Friday 10th June and we will be having our own "fun with footballs" tournament on Griffin Park and the children are invited to come to Nursery dressed in their favourite team colours/football kit. Throughout the week the children will be learning to recognise numbers through decorating football kits with players numbers on the back.

Week Commencing 13th June

On Monday 13th June we will be having a red, white and blue day in honour of France, the host nation of the Euro Cup. Children are welcome to nursery dressed in red, white and blue and we will be having lots of themed activities.

Flag Day is on Tuesday 14th June and the children will be celebrating cultural diversity and creating their own flag.

To celebrate Father's Day on Sunday 19th June, Nursery is inviting our Daddys and/or Granddads to join us for lunch on 15th, 16th and 17th June. Menus are on display in Nursery so please speak to a member of staff for availability.

The children will also be busy making a special little something to take home for Father's Day.

Week Commencing 20th June

21st June is International Day of Yoga and the children will be having yoga mornings in the garden throughout the week.

With the summer holidays nearly upon us, our outdoor market stall will be turned into a travel agents and lots of summer holiday themed activities will be available for the children to enjoy.

Week Commencing 27th June

Monday the 27th is Sunglasses Day and we will be teaching the children about protecting their eyes and staying safe in the sun.

Wednesday is International Mud Day and the mud kitchen will be open for business for the children to cook up lots of imaginative recipes like slime pie and worm soup....yum!
