All of our activities will be running alongside children's individual interest.

Week Commencing 1st March

For St David’s Day we will be making Welsh flags and dragons to display in a traditional St David’s Day parade. The children will be using leeks and daffodils to mark make and we will also be encouraging development of gross motor movements as we create marks on a supersized scale!

World Book Day Throughout the week, the children are invited to bring in their favourite stories from home to share and read with friends at story time. Preschool will be drawing their favourite characters and talking about how their stories are structured, the Toddlers and Babies will be sharing stories and using our story sacks, as well as new puppets in our nursery library to familiarise themselves with the characters in the books.

On Thursday 4th March, the children are welcome to come dressed as their favourite story book character. Please note that Nature Kindergarten sessions will continue as normal and the children will be taking part in sharing stories in our outdoor classroom. If your child does not attend on Thursday and would like to take part in dressing up, they are invited to wear their costume throughout the week.

Week Commencing 8thMarch

Throughout the week we will be focusing on a very important day in our nursery calendar, Mother’s Day. We will be celebrating the important women in our lives by talking about why we love them and looking at special pictures in group time. All the children will be making something special to take home, as well as something sweet.

Week Commencing 15thMarch

St Patrick’s Day is on Wednesday 17th March and we shall be celebrating by having a golden coin hunt in the garden and making four leaf clovers & shamrocks in the creative areas. There will be traditional Irish music to listen to throughout the day, as well as the Toddlers and Preschoolers practicing their Irish jig.

Red Nose Day is on 19th March and the children will be fundraising for this event throughout the week by wearing something red and getting wild and crazy with hairstyles. Go big, go bold, go red and don’t forget to donate £1 for this very worthwhile charity.

To honour World Down Syndrome Day, we invite everyone to wear odd sock on 18th March.

Week Commencing 22ndMarch

It’s Healthy Body, Happy Me Week. Supported by the National Day Nurseries Association, we will be looking at healthy food and what is good for our bodies. To get our hearts pumping, the children will be taking part in a range of exercise to encourage better health and happiness. The Toddlers and Preschool children will be discussing dental hygiene and how we keep our smiles healthy, as well as discovering our emotions through the use of our new emotion ball.

Week Commencing 29thMarch

Nursery will be looking at all things spring with the children creating a range of artwork of spring animals to display throughout Nursery. Each room will be having a small world farm so the children can discover more about the animals that live there. We will also be celebrating the weather and looking at the changes spring brings this time of year.

Easter is upon us and the children will be making Easter treats to take home and enjoy. We will be holding our annual egg hunt in the garden and we invite you to make an Easter bonnet at home to bring in for our Easter Bonnet Parade in the garden on the 1st of April.
