November 19 Activities

November heralds the start of a busy calendar of events with lots of opportunities for learning and fun, as well as fundraising for worthy causes and remembering those who so bravely served.


All of our activities will be running alongside children's individual interest.

Week Commencing 4th November

It’s Bonfire and Fire Safety Week.  Preschool will be using the fire safety role play box to use on their ‘interest table’.  Both the Toddler and Preschool children will be talking about how we can keep safe on Bonfire Night as well as general fire safety with the help from Francis the Firefly!  We are keeping our fingers crossed the fire service will be able to make a special visit to Nursery during the week to show the children the fire engines but we appreciate they are very busy helping those in need.  The Toddlers and Babies will be creating bonfire pictures using different resources to create marks.  Everyone will be getting involved in making toffee apples to take home a sweet autumn treat!

In the lead up to Remembrance Sunday on 10th November,  the Toddler and Preschool children will be making poppies through a variety of activities and the Babies will be creating their poppies through body painting. 

Week Commencing 11th November

Monday 11th November is Remembrance Day and the children and staff will be acknowledging the minute silence in recognition of the brave and the fallen. 

This week is also Kindness Week and to celebrate World Kindness Day on 13th November, together with acknowledging Anti Bullying Week, the Preschool and Toddler children will be looking at our Golden Rules.  Preschool will be using the Good Friend action game during circle time to focus in on how we can be kind to one another.  The Baby Room will be creating something special to take home as well as taking part in sharing activities.

Friday 15th November is Children in Need and everyone is invited to come in their PJ’s for a donation of £1 towards this very worthy cause.  We will also have lots of Children in Need themed crafts going on throughout the day.

Week Commencing 18th November

This week focuses on activities around Road Safety Week.  Preschool will be making their own road layout and learning how to cross roads safely with the use of THINK! Hedgehog videos.  The Toddler Room will also be talking about how we cross roads safely and playing a stop and go listening activity in the garden.  Our youngest children will be making their own traffic lights.

To celebrate Nursery Rhyme Week, all the children will be using their “What’s in the Bag” singing spoons to encourage singing during circle times and Preschool will also be painting their favourite nursery rhymes, as well as putting on mini talent shows during circle times. 

Week Commencing 25th November

To celebrate Thanksgiving on 28th November, we will be having a special Thanksgiving dinner, as well as crafting turkeys.  Our Preschool and Toddler children will also be creating thankful leaves to place on our Thankful Tree.  To celebrate St Andrew’s Day on 30th November, Nursery will be creating Scottish flags and Lock Ness Monsters!  We will be listening to bag pipes and all of the children are invited to wear tartan on Friday 29th  November.
