At The Old Vicarage Nursery we understand how important a balanced diet is for the maintenance and protection of health, to ensure full mental and physical potential is reached each day and to optimise growth and development.
Chef Nina caters for an average of 45-50 children and each meal is specifically tailored to take dietary requirements into account and is made fresh using locally sourced ingredients. Our produce is brought in weekly to ensure freshness and to support this supply, we also have a selection of seasonal organic vegetables from Hilary's very own local allotment.
All our food is prepared with no added salt or sugar.
Our kitchen continues to achieve the maximum five star rating from the Food Standards Agency across all aspects of food storage and preparation and this has been recognised further through the attainment of the Recipe 4 Health award for achievement in allergen awareness, healthy eating options and environmental focus on food, together with our level of cleanliness in food preparation and service. The scheme is operated by Blackburn with Darwen Council's Environmental Health team working in partnership with Public Health and the Healthy Living Team.
Nursery has also been successful in achieving the Smile 4 Life award. This is in recognition of the contribution made to improving the oral and general health of our pre-school children by encouraging regular tooth brushing....say cheese!
