Miss Catherine, Nursery Manager (Relief) / Pre-School Team Leader
Cat is one of our most creative staff members and enjoys taking part in activities which allow the children to bring out their own creative side. Having joined The Old Vicarage in 2011, Cat has continued to develop her professional career and is now Relief Nursery Manager. To enrich this development, Cat has undergone additional management training as well as enhanced safeguarding awareness and is currently continuing her academic studies at university for her Level 5 qualification. Cat is somewhat obsessed with her car and enjoys spending time with her boyfriend, being pampered and taking time to make special memories with family and friends. Cat's hidden talent is that she can play the violin.
Miss Kate, Forest School Leader
Miss Kate heads up our Nature Kindergarten sessions and as a qualified Level 5 Early Years Practitioner, Kate has been working with children for over 30 years in a range of settings. In her spare time, Kate runs a community allotment and wild space for children, families and the wider community with the aim of helping connect with nature and each other. Kate is always curious and learning. She is currently carrying out research on outdoor approaches in the Early Years, together with developing her knowledge of permaculture principles and practice. As a mother and practitioner, Kate feels privileged to be able to enjoy time with young children in the outdoors and share this experience in a sustainable, nature-based environment where each child can have childhood adventures, joy and laughter!
Miss Tara, Toddler Room Team Leader / Nursery Practitioner
Having worked in childcare for over 10 years, Tara is extremely experienced and dedicated to her profession. Tara enjoys having an influence on a child's development through building bonds and attachments which provide positive steps in their learning and development. Tara has three growing boys and has also challenged herself professionally by completing her Level 5 qualification in Positive Practice with Children and Young People in 2017.
Miss Kellie, Baby Room Team Leader / Nursery Practitioner
Kellie has recently celebrated her 10 year anniversary working at The Old Vicarage. For Kellie, the most enjoyable thing about working with children is watching them achieve their ‘firsts’ by way of steps, words and writing, as well as joining in the creative activities. Kellie also enjoys seeing the children become so enthusiastic about all the events held at nursery, especially the annual visit from Father Christmas. During her free time, Kellie can be found spending time with her partner, going to the gym and socialising with friends and family, on top of studying for her Level 4 qualification in childcare. Interesting facts surrounding Kellie include using the word ‘fabulous’ in almost every conversation she holds as well as her being a whiz in the kitchen both at nursery and at home. Kellie is very interested in animal welfare and sponsors a panda.
Miss Kelly, Nursery Practitioner
Kelly has always enjoyed looking after children from a young age and made the decision to go into childcare to realise her ambition of working on a professional level within the childcare sector. After qualifying in 2013 as a Level 3 practitioner from St Mary's College, Kelly came to The Old Vicarage to assist with holiday and sickness cover on a part time basis before she quickly progressed to a full time member of the team. Kelly has worked with all of our age ranges and thoroughly enjoys watching the children grow and develop their skills as well as their individual personalities. Outside of nursery life, Kelly leads a busy life spending time with friends and family and her perfect day would be sat on a beach in the sun but you won’t find her in the water as she is scared of big fish! Kelly also enjoys watching Game of Thrones and Vampire Diaries and is partial to a bit of chocolate.
Miss Tina, Nursery Practitioner
Tina’s very impressive professional qualifications include a PGCE in Primary Teaching and BA Hons in Early Years. Having joined The Old Vicarage in 2012, Tina works as a full time member of the team with experience in all of our age ranges. Tina enjoys seeing the children achieve a goal, no matter how big or small, and finds it rewarding to be a part of their early years development. When not in Nursery, Tina enjoys walking, socialising and spending time with her two beautiful nieces. A perfect day could be described as sitting around the pool somewhere hot and sunny with her husband and friends. Tina has few dislikes but bananas are one of them and she is also scared of birds!
Miss Rachel, Nursery Practitioner
Rachel qualified as a Level 3 practitioner in June 2011 before continuing her qualifications through a Foundation Degree in Professional Practice (Early Years), graduating in July 2013. During her time with us, Rachel has commented that, “For me, there are so many enjoyable things about working with the children at The Old Vicarage I can’t pick just one”. Rachel possesses a real passion for teaching children and finds every experience rewarding through seeing the children grow and develop. Rachel has also taken a keen interest in our Nature Kindergarten and works with the children for our outdoor forest school sessions. During her free time, Rachel enjoys nothing more than a long walk and meeting up with friends. Rachel also sponsors two Labradors, Ava and Zeb who are training to become guide dogs and her perfect day would be spent with her own four legged fur babies, Lucky and Wizzer spoiling them with toys and treats.
Miss Charley, Nursery Practitioner
Charley recently completed her BTEC Diploma in Health and Social Care at Blackburn College. Originally stepping in to assist with holiday cover, Charley quickly showed her passion for working with children and is now based within our busy Baby Room whilst she undertakes further academic studies to enhance her professional qualifications. As a keen sports fan, Charley enjoys American football, ice hockey and rugby but on the flip side also enjoys winding down by reading or watching her favourite tv shows. You may not know that Charley's sister, Miss Kelly, also works with us and Charley is an avid YouTuber!
Miss Ishrat, Nursery Practitioner
We are very fortunate to have Ishrat working as part of our team. Having worked in childcare for 8 years, Ishrat has progressed with her professional qualifications to gain her BA Hons in Early Years, together with Early Years Professional Teacher Status. These skills are put to excellent use within our Pre-School Room, although Ishrat has worked with all of our age ranges since joining us in March 2016. Everyday being a different experience and full of surprises is Ishrat's favourite part of working with children. Some of her other likes are chocolate cake and pizza (which she can't get enough of) and of course working with everyone here at The Old Vicarage!! Creepy crawlies and the dark are not top of the favourites list she avoids them when and wherever possible. A perfect day for Ishrat would be travelling and exploring a historic place in the sun and to compliment her travels, she is able to speak and read four languages of English, Urdu, Punjabi and Arabic. In between her travels, Ishrat squeezes in her hobbies of socialising with friends and family and working out at the gym.
Miss Carlyann, Nursery Practitioner
Carlyann is currently enjoying working with our youngest children in the Baby Room. Carlyann is further developing her professional qualifications after achieving her Foundation Degree in Positive Practice with Children and Young People in 2017 and is currently studying for her BA Hon's Degree. When asked what Carlyann's most enjoyable part of working with children is, she felt "Seeing the children's development improve" and being part of the milestones such as crawling, sitting up and walking. When not in Nursery, Carlyann enjoys spending time with her daughter, family and friends.
Helen, Domestic Assistant
Helen is in charge of keeping the main areas of Nursery looking bright and fresh for parents and visitors and quite frankly, we couldn’t do without her! As well as looking after us, Helen is undertaking further educational studies at Blackburn College and has a large family that keeps her busy. As a devoted Grandmother, she enjoys nothing more than getting to spend time with her grandchildren and spoiling them rotten. Also a keen animal lover, Helen's family members include the four legged variety and Cufts is a must on Helen's annual events calendar!
